Tips on Helping Your Creative Juices Flow

One thing I have observed among all successful business owners is that, as varied as they are in terms of personality, managerial style and temperament, they are all incredibly creative. Creativity is one of the most, of not the single most important ingredient for success. Unfortunately, you cannot turn on creativity like a faucet. It comes and goes, and you have to seize the opportune moment. However, there certainly are things you can do to help the thought process.

• Listen to music, especially classical music
• Carry a notebook where you can jot down ideas during your creative moments. Refer to those ideas later.
• Go for a walk or a bike ride. Get out into the open air.
• Get into the habit of working out your brain. Read a lot, watch good movies and yes, argue. Exchange of ideas stimulates creativity.
• Let your brain rest once in a while. This doesn’t mean sitting in front of the TV all day. Instead do something you loved doing as a kid. Sit on a swing, finger paint or play with the dog.
• Brainstorm in an organized manner. Write down ideas, problems and their solutions. When you are done show them to others for feedback.
