How to Lead Your Team Forward

Strength lies in our difference and not in our similarities. The same thing apply to leadership as well. A good leader is someone who can bind his team members hailing from various backgrounds into a successful unit. Any business organization be it a small business firm or a multi-national business group, gives more importance to “collaboration” and “teamwork” above everything else.

Take a look at this great video where John T.Chambers, Chairman and CEO, Cisco Systems Inc. explains the necessity of both teamwork and collaboration as intrinsic elements of running a successful business organization.

Building a Support Team

Building an efficient support team is one of the basic things that a leader must cultivate with perfection. In fact, if you are looking to lead a group of efficient team members you must have the inner zeal to come out on top at the right instant.

You might wonder “how do I build my support team?” Well, it’s pretty simple. Take a look at the following points to make the most of your prime position.

  • Be Confident About Your Role: It might sound a bit surprising but the truth of the fact is, you must be crystal clear about what roles you have to play – the dos and don’ts, pros and cons of the decision making process while building your support team.
  • Be Certain About Your Choices: Efficient leaders lead by example, besides possessing an exemplary vision. Always fix your team goal in advance and explain these to your support team members.
  • Be Supportive To Team Members: To enjoy popularity among your fellow team members, you must keep a tab on their various requirements from time to time. Talk to them in a casual note and attend to a patient hearing. Thinking about others needs, will not only earn you trust but a good deal of respect among your fellow team members.

Building a support team is crucial for success in leadership. Get started with cultivating a good rapport among your team members and see the difference!

Want To Be Successful? Don’t Play By the Rules

Stay Ahead

Rules are made to be broken. This may sound clichéd at first, but the fact remains, you need to carve your own path while starting out afresh to establish your own small business. However, it is quite common among entrepreneurs to stick to age-old rules. Further, a majority of them tend to believe in ‘playing it safe’. But as the saying goes, “If you don’t risk anything you risk even more”, so with entrepreneurship. What you need to do is to think ‘out of the box’ and start walking a new path.

Check out these following tips that you should try out to keep yourself ahead of others.

  • Seek First To Understand and Then Try To Innovate – The key to innovation rests on your ability to troubleshoot unusual problems rather than treading the known course of understanding. You must realize the importance of serving your clients with something “new” which would meet their interest.
  • Energize Your Grey Cells – With only a few rare exceptions, successful innovators are high-energy people with the unique ability to motivate and stimulate others. Without the capacity to lead in crunch situations, you may have the best idea in store, but sadly, with no one ready to lend their ears to it.
  • Prioritize Your Needs – To walk on the red carpet of success, you need to prioritize your requirements. Put the first things first and then think of doing something else. Successful entrepreneurs never waste hot opportunities; instead, they jump onto critical issues and make the most out of it.

Myths of Entrepreneurship – Common Misconceptions of Small Business ownership

Entrepreneurship

Many of us dive head on into entrepreneurship and owning our own small business believing blindly on some of the myths listed hereunder. However, when we really do so, we hardly get time to regret. While we start running our business independently, the rude shock of reality grips us completely and we find it nothing compared to what we expected earlier. Take a look at some of the common myths associated with entrepreneurship.

  • You Won’t Require Working From 9 To 5 – Speaking of myths, this is something which most budding entrepreneurs consider being true. It is not the reality, instead, running your own business would require you to work even more say, 12-16 hours. You must be prepared to devote a considerable amount of your time to run your small business successfully.
  • Self Work Is Stress-Free – This is yet another myth of entrepreneurship which is quite misleading. While you may not have a boss to report, you also don’t have anyone else to blame in case of a misjudgment or indecision on your part.
  • You Can Work Flexibly – If you consider this to be true, then entrepreneurship is not your cup of tea. Although you may enjoy a little flexibility in terms of scheduling your work, but you must dance attendance to your customers’ every single need as and when required.
  • You Will Be Rich In No Time – This is the biggest myth of all. To be honest, in the first few years you will be really cash-strapped, to say the least.

Start your small business initiative if you are ready to invest a considerable amount of time, consistent effort, and requisite capital. These may only find luck shining upon your face.

Lessons in Leadership – Learning From the Bees

Leadership strategy

If you are looking to master the art of leadership, you can certainly take a lesson or two from the working of bees! Don’t be surprised, it’s not that we humans are incapable of thinking as accurately as these tiny creatures, but at times you need guidance to keep your focus on track. Take a look at the practical lessons to gain success in leadership.

  • Protect The Future: Bees invest a lot of their time in locating the best deposits of nectar and once they find one, they guard the spot vigilantly until the whole reserve is collected for future use. Leadership too is prone to ups and downs. Try to think ahead of the situation and plan your moves well in advance to protect your future in leadership.
  • Distribute Authority: We are well aware of how the bees distribute responsibilities among their fellow beehive members. While there are worker bees with specific tasks, there are nurse bees feeding the hatch-lings and there are bees guarding the safety and security of the hives. Follow this model. Distribute responsibilities among your group members. This makes your work easier.
  • Keep Your Balance: Another key point in leadership success is keeping one’s foot firm on the ground. Bees believe that working individually on a specific role to perfection will ultimately help in proper functioning of their beehive colony. This applies to leadership as well. Don’t lose your focus, keep your balance.
  • Prepare For Change: Leadership in a beehive changes with time. Old queen bees are replaced with new ones, authority shifts from one to the other. Leaders too must be prepared for change in their institution.

You must welcome the winds of change. Fresh school of thoughts and visions must be encouraged to bring success in leadership.
